Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress, best known for the films Beta Saajan, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. Her career began in the 1980s and came to popularity with her role in the Tezaab film, in which she was a part of the cast with veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next film was the movie Dil In which she starred alongside Aamir Khan. In the beginning, as a teenager in Mumbai's middle class she learned to dance. She started acting when young and fought for several years because many of her early films were flops. However, she eventually achieved success and was one of the most prominent actresses within the Indian film industry. After her marriage, she took some time to rest from her acting career until she returned. She was a key character on Gulaab Gang, a film about women's struggles in India. Dixit was awarded eight Filmfare Awards out of the 15 she was up for nominations. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Her social work is also popular.
